Rare Early Dress Dagger Dated Pre 1883
Please note item 50815 is the same it offers more pictures. This is a unusual and possibly item of historic interest. The dagger is German made: WRK Kirschbaum of Solingen. The blade is highly decorative with one side cannon, armour and banners. The other side a scroll pattern with a nice Argentinian coat of arms the rising sun, united joined hands with spear and hat.
The blade is in lovely condition no pitting only a couple of small blemishes. The handle I would assume to be antler with six inlaid strips one part is missing. The blade length 18.5 cm. The leather scabbard is in nice fine condition with the metal work free of any damage.
I had try to do some research into this dagger and from contacting a German Solingen specialist they say this pre dates 1883. I would guesss that this has a connection to the independance of Argentina in that time period.
A extremely fine piece worthy of more research.
